Mentoring

The Mentoring Program was created in summer 2013 for ITWomen scholarship awardees who are currently enrolled and attending colleges throughout the U.S. The students are paired one-to-one with a female mentor who is a professional employed in Information Technology or Engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ work experience. The Mentoring program complements our Scholarship program by ensuring that our college scholarship awardees get the necessary support to remain on track and complete studies in the IT or Engineering fields initially selected.

Robotics and Programming Camps

ITWomen hosts free Summer Robotics and Coding Camps for girls from middle school through high school, made possible through the generous support of sponsors and grant partners including Citrix, Microsoft, PwC, FPL’s NextEra Energy Foundation, and the Akamai Foundation.

In response to COVID-19, we transitioned our 2020 camps to a virtual format, which more than doubled enrollment and expanded our reach to girls across Florida and beyond. In 2023, we proudly resumed in-person camps, partnering with South Dade High School, and in 2025, we are excited to continue this mission at Hialeah Gardens High School. Previous camps have been hosted at the Pace Center for Girls in Miami and Broward, as well as Northeast High School in Oakland Park (Broward County).

What sets our camps apart is the inspiring Role Model Speaker Series, where girls hear firsthand from women thriving in tech and STEM careers. Past speakers have included a physician demonstrating the DaVinci surgical robot, NASA engineers sharing space career paths, and professionals from companies like Modernizing Medicine, Royal Caribbean, World Fuel, Ryder, Medtronic, Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, and Akamai. From UX design and product management to cybersecurity and robotics, our speakers help girls envision the possibilities and connect learning to real-world innovation.

ITWomen NextGen for College Students

In May of 2014, ITWomen launched the alpha chapter of ITWomen NextGen at Florida International University’s College of Business and Computing Science. The goal of the college chapters was to introduce and expose college aged women to professionals in IT and engineering and to facilitate an easier transition form college to career. NextGen members also serve as Role Models to high school girls attending ITWomen partner high schools, thereby a complete feeder program reaching into middle schools.
