ITWomen has developed a Role Models initiative as a Community Outreach effort to make a difference in a student's education. Our Role Models initiative is in support of the National Academy Foundation (NAF) and the Broward Academy of Information Technology (AoIT). The AoIT is a high school program that offers IT courses to prepare students for a career in an IT-related field.
Through the Role Models Initiative, ITWomen members and its constituencies will serve as Role Models by sharing their career experiences and industry expertise with Academy students and teachers through classroom activities, job shadowing experiences, field trips and volunteer opportunities including speaking on IT topics and participation at industry trade shows and conferences.
The Broward AoIT is currently in need of local professionals to volunteer to speak at AoIT high schools on various topics in these cateories: History of Information Technology, HTML, Operating Systems/Architecture, Applications, Ethics, Search Engines, Graphic Development, Emerging Technology, and Careers.

| Sharing your expertise and experience with local high school students who are considering IT careers is a great way to personally make a difference and to support ITWomen.

Computers Needed to Help Students and Families
Before you discard your old computers, consider donating them to The Education Fund, which will refurbish the computers for use in its Citibank FamilyTech program. This program opens the world of computer technology to more than 2,700 low-income students and their families at five selected Miami-Dade County Public Schools by placing donated computers in their homes and training parents and teachers to use the computers and supervise their children's work. Requirements for computers include being IBM Compatible, Pentium 100mhz or higher, with monitors, 16MB of RAM, and hard drives. Also needed are software licenses and modems.
To make a donation, call 305-892-5099, ext. 25.
