Dear Board of the ITWomen Charitable Foundation.
As I begin my summer, I would like to take the time to thank those who have helped to fund my past two years at college and to share with you the experiences you have made possible.
I am still majoring in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Georgia Tech, and even though classes continue to increase drastically in difficulty, I find that I am enjoying the subject matter much more. In my numerical methods class, for example, we were assigned a group project in which we used computer modeling software to design a process that would yield very high concentrations of ethanol. We also researched different aspects of America’s fuel usage and the place renewable fuels hold in that usage. I enjoyed this project very much, as I am still interested in a career in alternative fuels.
When I am not studying, I occupy myself with my sorority, Omega Phi Alpha, National Service Sorority. We participate in projects every weekend like Project Open Hand, MedShare, and park clean ups. I have just been elected next year’s sisterhood director and will plan social events like retreat and rush events. I also spend a great deal of time at Tech’s Christian Campus Fellowship. This past year I have enjoyed cleaning up after our devotional lunches, setting up for and attending Bible study and reaching out to people I had never met before. This coming week I will begin conducting my own research on clean up methods for leaking underground gasoline storage tanks using the Environmental Protection Agency’s facilities in Athens, Georgia.
Thank you again for your contribution to my education and for all of the opportunities it has brought me.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth M.
